Synopsis:   Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers who lately had not had a successful play and is in need of money due to his string of failures, receives a script from a student he has been teaching.  He recognizes it as a potential hit.  He plans to - with the aid of his wife - offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the young man quickly accepts.  Eventually he decides he wants it all for himself, and he has found a way to get rid of the young man.  The situations presented and how they are worked out provide both suspense and comedy.  This play should be considered a thriller, not a comedy.

"Deathtrap..." was produced through a special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Incorporated.

Film:  Warner Brothers made "Deathtrap..." into a major motion picture in 1982.  It starred Christopher Reeve as the novice playwright "Clifford Anderson," and as his mentor, "Sidney Bruhl."
