John's Poems

"April"

written by John Silah, as a grade-school student at Saint Joseph's School, in 5th or 6th Grade

April is a time in Spring.

April is a time to sing.

April is a time for rain.

Dancing on the window pane

Time Traveler

A riddle poem, written by John Silah

Its leaves make up a wise, old tree.

Thoughts in solid form.

Ideas served in bite-sized pieces.

It sends its messages through time,

Yet its speech is whisper-quiet

As the wind rustling through its leaves.

It stands in a forest of its friends,

But truly comes to life

When opened in the light

And consumed by the mind.

This was John’s second poem.  It was written at the regular monthly meeting of The Fond du Lac Area Writers at Moraine Park Technical College, 235 North National Avenue, in Room Number O104, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 54935  U.S.A.  The date was Tuesday, June 25, 2002.  Our guest speaker was Judy Barisonzi.
