Fond du Lac Community Theatre Announces Scholarship Winner
Fond du Lac Community Theatre is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2007-2008 Dave Jones Memorial Scholarship, Brett Baldauf. Brett graduated from Fond du Lac High School and is planning on attending the University of Minnesota in the Fall majoring in Education. In the future he hopes to join the Peace Corp and participate in the Doctors without
Borders Program. Brett is the son of Lisa and Bob Baldauf of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
For the past six years Brett has enjoyed having roles both on stage and behind the scenes for Fond du Lac Community Theatre productions. He has performed in such shows as “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Brett has
also been a terrific help to Community Theatre working backstage for many productions and ushering.
Brett has been very active in the theater programs at Fond du Lac High School. He has performed in eleven high school productions. He has shared his vocal talents by participating in Madrigals, Vocal Jazz, and the Cardinal Singers. Other school programs Brett has participated in include Student Government, National Honor Society and PeaceNiks. Brett has also volunteered in many community
programs that help others in need. Some of his efforts include working at Relay for Life for nine years, serving on his Church Council for one year, and participating in the Habitat for Humanity program.
The FdLCT scholarship was established in 1979 in memory of long-time and devoted member, David Jones. David Jones worked closely with the youth of the company, and felt they should be supported and recognized for their efforts. The scholarship will be formally presented at the Annual General Membership Meeting of Fond du Lac Community Theatre on Tuesday, July 15th, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. in our FdLCT building on Ninth Street. This meeting is open to
all of our members and anyone interested in becoming a member. Brett will receive a monetary award and will have his name engraved on a plaque displayed at our FdLCT building.

Fond du Lac Community Theatre’s Golden Anniversary Season
Five for Fifty. Fond du Lac Community Theatre is thrilled to announce its fiftieth season, dubbed “50 Years of Opening Nights.”
That’s right – 50 years! It is quite a feat for any group to be successful for half a century. Our committee has been working diligently since November to create a fitting lineup to celebrate its upcoming 2007–2008 Golden Anniversary Season.
Our season, which includes a slate of five shows, kicked off in the fall of 2007 with a musical, “The Fantasticks,” which was directed by Al Wallisch. Wallisch had directed Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys” in the fall of 2006 as well as several others in the past years. Although the troupe began in
1957–1958, it was ten years later, in 1967, “The Fantasticks” was the first musical ever performed by FdLCT. The group thought it was a fitting tribute during its Golden Season to stage this fun musical.
For Christmas, FdLCT presented the holiday classic “A Christmas Carol,” which was directed by Therese Burazin. It was staged at the Goodrich Little Theatre.
The third show was a showstopper! In fact, it was a musical revue of showstoppers, "Golden Musical Memories" -- some of the best numbers from the musicals performed by FdLCT over the course of our fifty seasons. George "Bud"
Caldwell and other FdLCT members created a script to weave the musical numbers together for a fun evening of songs and
entertainment. Bud has starred in many of FdLCT finest productions. This musical was presented in April 2008 at UW-FdL’s Prairie Theatre.
Our season continues with a third musical, Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.” It will be directed by Mary Runde and Maggie Patton, who last teamed to direct FdLCT’s holiday production of “The Littlest Angel,” and will be working together this summer to direct “The Music Man.” “Cinderella” has never been performed by FdLCT, and this magical musical will be staged at Fond du Lac High School’s PAC.
Our Golden Season will conclude with a fifth show, another children's' play from our "Once Upon a Time Players" division. The show is "The Mother Goose Network." This play takes a look at some of our favorite nursery rhyme and storybook characters in funny new television shows on The Mother Goose Network. Auditions will be held at
Theisen Middle School on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 and Wednesday, June 4 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and are open to all kids who will be entering grades 3-6 in the fall of 2008. Report to the Theisen Cafeteria on these days to complete the necessary paperwork before auditioning in the auditorium. Performances will be held on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25. Come
join Mother Goose for another wonderful adventure!
Fond du Lac Community Theatre is delighted to present this slate of shows to commemorate fifty years of great entertainment. The troupe is one of only a few with such long-running success that they can celebrate such an auspicious event.
Watch for more information about how you can celebrate “50 Years of Opening Nights” with FdLCT. You can also check this website, or call # 923-2206. This is a season that theatre lovers won’t want to miss.
See you at the theatre! |

Looking Back at Fifty Years
Fond du Lac Community Theatre is looking for articles and short stories for our upcoming 50th Season. We're asking for stories about FdLCT and our productions - interesting stories, funny anecdotes, behind-the-scenes glimpses, nostalgic reminisces, reviews, etc.
If you have a FdLCT story to tell, and you can write it (or work with someone else who can write it!) here's your chance to share it with our troupe and audiences, and contribute to our history.. Please send submissions to Bud Caldwell at harryandbess@charter.net. Reminisces will be shared with our audiences in one or more of the following ways: on our programs, in a special souvenir program, and/or on this website, probably on our new History page, although reminisces that are about a particular show may be posted on our web page for that show, if
that particular show has its own page.. Many organizations have lost their history. We appreciate your help in making sure FdLCT's history is available for everyone to see. |
Photos Needed for 50th Anniversary
"Quick, where are those photos of that show I was in?" Fond du Lac Community Theatre is looking for photographs of shows we have staged over the past fifty years. Cheryl DuBrava is gathering materials for the various publicity pieces we will be putting out over the next year, commemorating our Fiftieth Anniversary Season. They will be used for one or more of the following:
 | Our 50th Souvenir Booklet |
 | The Memory Wall that we are creating |
 | One of our 2007-08 programs |
 | This website, probably on our History page |
Please either email the photos to Cheryl via an attachment to dubche@juno.com, or mail them to her at 248 Gillett Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54935. Cheryl can make copies of them, and then return the originals to people who want their pictures back.
Please don't wait - we need them fast, as these opportunities are coming up soon. Pictures can be of cast, rehearsals, set building, crews, anything FdLCT related from any show or event. Thanks, we appreciate your help. |

Building Supervisor Needed
Fond du Lac Community Theatre is in need of a volunteer to serve as the Building Supervisor for our FdLCT building (the former Ninth Street Fire Station.)
For just a few hours per week, this person would be taking care of the day-to-day upkeep of the building. Ideal for a retired or semi-retired handyman (or handywoman), our Supervisor would arrange his or her own schedule, do some relatively easy maintenance work, and make any recommendations for the work that professionals may have to do. Perfect for someone who needs something for their résumé, and also for someone who wants to get involved, even if they don't feel
they have the usual theatrical talents.
This is a great chance to contribute to the performing arts community in our area. Please contact one of our Officers or Board of Directors members.
