Organizational Policy
Harassment Policy
Fond du Lac Community Theatre is committed to an environment in which participants, volunteers, and production teams can feel safe.
What is harassment?
Harassment is behavior that threatens, demeans, or intimidates a person. It is unwanted, uninvited, and unwelcome behavior that causes nuisance, alarm, or substantial emotional distress without a legitimate purpose. Harassment can include offensive jokes or images related to race, age, gender, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation. It also includes verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, including pressure to listen to inappropriate sexual comments or accept sexual touching, that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.
What should I do if I feel I am being harassed?
If you feel that you are being harassed, make your feelings known to the person saying or doing this first, when you feel safe doing so. Tell the person to stop and that you are not comfortable with what is being said or done. If the behavior does not stop, make your concerns known as soon as possible to a member of the production team, such as the director, assistant director, production assistant, stage manager, music director, or vocal director. You may speak to that person directly or communicate in writing by note, email, or text.
What if I cannot talk to someone on the production team?
If you feel that you cannot speak with someone on the production team, or you are not satisfied with how your report has been handled, speak with the President or another executive officer of FDLCT. You may report the concern directly or communicate by note, text, or email.
What will happen if I report harassment?
It is not your fault if you are being harassed. The report will be investigated and, where appropriate, the person responsible will be disciplined. Discipline may range from a warning to removal from the production or, in severe cases, exclusion from future FDLCT productions.
Do not assume that the FDLCT production team is aware of harassment. We strongly encourage you to report harassment if you are not able to stop it on your own. FDLCT takes all reports seriously. You are entitled to feel safe at all times with FDLCT.
