FDLCT Code of Ethics

A. Personal and Professional Integrity

Fond du Lac Community Theatre (FDLCT) staff, board members and volunteers shall act with honesty, integrity, respect, appreciation, and openness in all their dealings as representatives of the organization. The FDLCT promotes a working environment that values respect, fairness and integrity.

B. Mission

FDLCT has a clearly stated mission and purpose, approved by the Board of Directors, in pursuit of the public good. The FDLCT’s  mission to provide the community with theatrical performance and educational opportunities. All FDLCT programs shall support that mission and all who work for or on behalf of FDLCT will understand and be loyal to that mission and purpose. The mission shall be responsive to the constituencies and communities served by FDLCT and of value to the FDLCT at large.

C. Governance

FDLCT has an active governing body, the Board of Directors, which is responsible for setting the mission and strategic direction and oversight of the finances, operations, and policies of the organization. 

D. Legal Compliance

FDLCT will be vigilant in compliance with laws, regulations and applicable conventions that govern and regulate the organization. All members of this organization will speak respectively and honorable about the organization to external constituents. 

E. Responsible Stewardship

FDLCT shall manage its funds responsibly and prudently. 

F. Openness and Disclosure

FDLCT shall provide comprehensive and timely information to the public, the media, and all stake holders and be responsive in a timely manner to reasonable requests for information. All information about FDLCT will fully and honestly reflect the policies and practices of the organization. Basic informational data about the organization, reviews and compilations, and audited financial statements will be available upon written request. All solicitation materials accurately represent the FDLCT’s policies and practices and will reflect the dignity of program beneficiaries. All financial, organizational, and program reports will be complete and accurate in all material respects.

G. Inclusiveness and Diversity

FDLCT has a policy of promoting inclusiveness and its staff, board and volunteers reflect diversity in order to enrich its programmatic effectiveness. The FDLCT shall take meaningful steps to promote inclusiveness in its hiring, retention, promotion, board recruitment and constituencies served.

H. Fundraising

FDLCT shall raise funds from the public and from donor institutions and be truthful in solicitation materials. FDLCT will respect the privacy concerns of individual donors and expend funds consistent with donor intent. FDLCT shall disclose important and relevant information to potential donors.

I. Afterword

While the FDLCT Board of Directors has given its approval to this document, it will continue to be reviewed and revised as necessary. A code of ethics is, by necessity, general in outlining broad ethical principles.
